Also expected in 2012 are Satchmo at the Waldorf, the New England premiere of a new play by Wall Street Journal theatre writer Terry Teachout, about Louis Armstrong, featuring John Douglas Thompson; a time-traveling work called Endurance (co-produced with Split Knuckle Theatre); Charles Busch's The Tale of the Allergist's Wife; a dance work called Dibbledance by director-choreographer Susan Dibble; Norman Plotkin's one-woman play Cassandra Speaks, about American broadcaster Dorothy Thompson; John Logan's Tony Award-winning Red; and the East Coast premiere of Mark Roberts' tragi-comedy Parasite Drag, about a family reconciling after a death.

The Tempest, in July and August, will be directed by Simotes, and will also feature Apollo Dukakis as Gonzalo. Olympia Dukakis won the Oscar for "Moonstruck," in the category of Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

S&C's two stages are the 413-seat mainstage Founders' Theatre and the 197-seat Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre, in the Berkshires of Massachusetts.
