Special Features On Location With "Smash": Where to Eat, Drink and Dance With Broadway Babies Much like the HBO series "Sex and the City," which made New York City a major character in its tale of bedroom romps, life and love, the new NBC musical series "Smash" proves that all the world's a stage –especially NYC.

For New York City-dwelling "Smash" fans, the series plays out like a real-life treasure hunt of locations that takes us from actual casting offices to the watering holes and eateries where theatre folk catch up and gab about the latest news on the rialto.

Playbill.com has put together its very own "Smash" guide of some of the standout locations from the first season so far.

Café Orlin: Though the name is never mentioned, Marilyn hopeful Karen Cartwright waits tables at this reliably delicious East Village locale, nestled on the north side of St. Marks Place between 2nd and 1st Avenues. Good luck finding a seat at brunch, but the straightforward menu has something for everyone. CafeOrlin.com.

Bond 45: Marilyn producer Eileen Rand causes a stir with her ex-husband Jerry at this bustling upscale midtown eatery located just east of Broadway that caters to the pre-and-post theatre crowd. If you want to be wined and dined like Broadway royalty (real-life producer Jordan Roth is also spotted here in "Smash"), ask to be seated in Eileen's cozy booth (Table 28) and order a Manhattan; just don't throw it at any ex-husbands. We also love Bond 45's arugula salad with caramelized pear. Bond45.com.

SD26: Formerly San Domenico, this sleek Italian restaurant-bar located in the Flatiron District is where Karen stands-up her boyfriend Dev during a last-minute rehearsal session for Marilyn. The elegant front bar is also where Karen meets touchy-feeling British director-choreographer Derek Wills for a late-night discussion of Marilyn over cocktails. Boyfriend Dev (also a Brit) steps in to claim his territory before the bubbles go to their heads. SD26NY.com.

Hill Country BBQ: Karen heads back to Iowa to visit Mom and Dad and get Broadway off her mind in episode three. While there, she rocks out with some friends for a baby shower at a karaoke joint. That joint is none other than the lower level of New York City's own Hill Country BBQ, where you order your meat by the pound, your margaritas by the pitcher and your longhorn cheddar mac and cheese in a large container. Check out the live music, too, at their location on 26th Street just off Broadway. HillCountryNY.com.

The Westway Diner: It didn't take "Smash" to make this place a hangout for theatre people. It's the real deal. Walk by this 9th Avenue institution between 43rd and 44th Streets and you're sure to see anyone from chorus kids to stars ordering breakfast any time of the day or night. This is also where Julia shares a slice of apple pie with her old flame Michael before their showmance really kicks into gear. WestWayDinerNYC.com.

Pigalle: Marilyn and Heaven On Earth composer Tom and hunky businessman John have a first date at this theatre-district bistro, a go-to place for after-theatre French-inspired vittles. OK, they only shoot the exterior here, but we love the menu. Try the chicken cobb salad with lardons and a hunk of blue cheese and crusty peasant bread. PigalleNYC.com.

City Hall Restaurant: Dreams do come true on "Smash." The downstairs bar at the spacious, multilevel City Hall Restaurant in Tribeca is where Ivy celebrates landing the title role in Marilyn and performs the Carrie Underwood single "Crazy Dreams." Did we mention that in that scene she's backed by Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Next to Normal composer Tom Kitt on the piano? CityHallNewYork.com.

L.I.C. Bar: This watering hole and music venue in Long Island City (45-58 Vernon Blvd.) serves as the location for "The Bushwhack," the East Village dive bar where sneaky assistant Ellis takes Marilyn producer Eileen to slum it for $7 martinis and to test her rifle skills during a game of Big Buck World. She even picks up a buck of her own at the bar. LICBar.com.

LaDuca Shoes: With all this eating and drinking, you're going to have to burn off the calories somehow, so kick up your heals and join the ensemble of Marilyn. "Smash" chorus kids Bobby, Jessica and Sue take Karen here as part of her Broadway baby make-over. This theatre-district retailer provides the must-have character shoes for Broadway and film, from "Burlesque," to Follies, to "Chicago," to Anything Goes. Even Bernadette Peters and Meryl Streep have slipped their soles into them. LaDucaShoes.com.
