Off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre has teamed up with Developing Artists to co-produce another year of Rebel Verses. The two-week festival, showcasing poetry, rap, spoken word, and more, is a platform for young artists ages 13-19 to perform their own original work.

The annual festival will run August 8–10 and August 15–17. It's also an opportunity for participants to collaborate and network with their peers and prominent guest artists.

This year's Rebel Verses will feature the following guest artists: spoken word artist Vanessa Hidary (August 8); Glee and Once On This Island's Alex Newell (August 9); Ragtime's Tina Fabrique (August 15); and Emmy-winning Scandal star Joe Morton (August 17). Sean Carvajal (King Lear, Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train) will emcee performances August 15–17, and Analisa Velez (Tell Hector I Miss Him) will emcee performances August 8–10.

The first week will feature performances by companies The Door, Epic NEXT, Poetesses, Pry Safe, and Urban Word. Week two will feature G!rl Be Heard, Loco-Motion Dance Theatre, and MCC Youth Company. Developing Artists, Vineyard Theatre Student Ensemble, and Alumni Theater Company will perform on all nights of the Festival.

Rebel Verses is truly unique, giving passionate young artists the chance to express themselves bravely, and audiences the chance to hear directly from the hearts and minds of the next generation,” says Sarah Stern, the Vineyard's artistic director. “We are proud to partner with our friends at Developing Artists and look forward immensely to being inspired by the energy, honesty and creativity of the young artists in this year’s festival; The Vineyard is electric when they are on stage!"
