News Ondaatje Adaptation to Play P.S. 122 Michael Ondaatje's novel "The Collected Works of Billy the Kid" has inspired a stage work called Every Day Above Ground, which will be presented at P.S. 122 Feb. 8-18.

The Canada-based SaBooge Theatre has created the work, which is described in press notes as "a gothic western" that explores the "mystifying, fascinating and brutal character, William Bonney, otherwise known as Billy the Kid." The company "marries rich visual storytelling with live music and innovative sound design to tell a startling, graphic and unsentimental tale."

Ondaatje wrote the novel "The English Patient," which won the Booker Prize and was adapted into the Oscar-winning film.

Every Day Above Ground is directed by Adrienne Kapstein and written by Jodi Essery. Sets and lighting are by Simon Harding, sound and music is by Jeff Lorenz.

The cast includes Attila Clemann, Patrick Costello, Graham Cuthbertson, Kayla Fell, Trent Pardy, Magin Schantz and Andrew Shaver.
