Downtown's Ontological Theatre will be the home of July Elkan's Sundays Out of Country through Oct. 17. The play, which is also directed by Elkan, began performances on Sept. 23. Sundays is a modern comedy of manners centering around a group of decadent actors. As they read scenes from Pinero's The Second Mrs. Tanqueray, Shaw's Candida, Schnitzler's Anatole and Ibsen's When We Dead Awaken -- all works from the turn of the past century -- the quintet of performers find their relationships and allegiances shaped and altered by the texts.

Arthur Nelson Capone, Matthew Courtney, Emily Donahue, Timothy Jenkins and Susan Tierney star. The Ontological is located at St. Mark's Church at 131 E. 10th St. in the East Village. For information, call (212) 533 4650.
