Based on the life story of the infamous Lola Montez, Lola follows a woman, who, despite living in the repressive mid-1800s, was a dancer, adventurer and lover to some of the most prominent men of the time, including Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo, Benjamin Disraeli and King Ludwig I of Bavaria. In fact, the femme fatale has been accused of setting off the Bavarian Revolution of 1848. Recently, Montez was also the subject of the 1999 New York Fringe Festival favorite, John Jahnke's Lola Montez in Bavaria.

A television and film composer, Safan is known for TV series "Cheers" and his Emmy-nominated work on "Life Goes On." Butterfly, his musical with Mark Mueller, was produced at Goodspeed Opera House. Tepper, a singer and actor, contributed writing to "The Daytime Emmy Awards," "The Mark Taper Forum Anniversary Gala" and "The Gay 90's Musical."

The Lola company is Christine Allocca, David Ayers, Jennifer Rae Beck, Jerry Christakos, Robert Creighton, Ed Dixon (The Scarlet Pimpernel), William Thomas Evans (The Scarlet Pimpernel), Shelia Gibbs, Heidi Godt, Gregg Goodbrod, Kelsey A. Johnston, Eileen Kaden, Joe Lutton, Gary Lynch (Les Miserables), Gannon McHale (The Sound of Music), Charlie Pollock, Becky Rosenbluth and Robin Skye (Parade).

All tickets are $12 and available by calling (212) 246-2676. The Lark Studio is located at 939 Eighth Avenue between 55th and 56th Streets. -- By Christine Ehren
