Classic Arts News Opera Theater of Pittsburgh to Stage Complete (But Abridged) Ring in 2006 The Opera Theater of Pittburgh will perform all four parts of Jonathan Dove's abridged version of Wagner's Ring cycle next summer, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
The company staged Dove's slimmed-down, English-language versions of Das Rheingold and Die Walk‹re this year and had originally planned to complete the cycle with Siegfried and G‹tterd‹merung in 2006. But the first half of the cycle, which is a co-production with Long Beach Opera, was so well received that the company decided to stage all four parts next year.

The company will present two performances of the cycle at the Byham Theater, according to the Tribune-Review: one July 14-16 and one July 21-23. Anthony Negus will conduct.
