Broadway News Original Cast Members Michael Park and Jennifer Laura Thompson Conclude Run in Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen August 4 The Tony-winning musical continues at the Music Box Theatre.

Original Dear Evan Hansen cast members Jennifer Laura Thompson and Michael Park play their final performances as Cynthia and Larry Murphy August 4 at the Music Box Theatre.

Both actors have been with the Tony-winning musical since it debuted at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., in 2015, although Park was not part of the Off-Broadway run at Second Stage. They are the last members of the original Broadway company, which included Tony winner Ben Platt, Laura Dreyfuss, Tony winner Rachel Bay Jones, Mike Faist, Will Roland, and Kristolyn Lloyd.

Thompson was Tony-nominated for her performance in Urinetown and has also been seen on Broadway in Nice Work If You Can Get It, Lend Me a Tenor, Wicked, and Footloose. Park's previous Broadway credits include Tuck Everlasting, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Little Me, Smokey Joe's Café, and Carousel.

Beginning August 6, Ivan Hernandez (who made his Broadway debut as Billy Flynn in Chicago) will take over the role of Larry Murphy, and Ann Sanders will temporarily take over the role of Cynthia Murphy (through October 20), with additional casting to be announced soon.

Hernandez played The Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods and Sal in The Capeman, both at the Public Theater's Delacorte; Sanders most recently appeared as Queen Iduna in Frozen. She was also the first Asian-American performer to play Anna Leonowens in The King and I and Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway.

Dear Evan Hansen, directed by Michael Greif, features a Tony-winning book by Steven Levenson and a Tony-winning score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The Broadway cast is currently headed by Andrew Barth Feldman in the title role.
