Douglas Adams' cult novels have been adapted, written and directed for the stage by Dirk Maggs. The cast will include Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, Geoff McGivern as Ford Prefect, Susan Sheridan as Trillian and Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox, with the voice of Stephen Moore as Marvin the Paranoid Android. The tour will begin performances at Glasgow's Theatre Royal June 8, before going on to visit Newcastle, Birmingham, Basingstoke, Northampton, Blackpool, Liverpool, Leicester, Plymouth, Woking, Bromley, Manchester, York, Llandudno, Aylesbury, Brighton, Southampton, Cambridge, Southend and Edinburgh.
Philip Pope will be the live music director, and it is presented by Perfectly Normal Productions and The Entertainment Business for The Radio Theatre Company.
According to press materials, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "became an instant and enduring classic on its launch as a radio series. Now it is re-born in a new stage production that is a radio show like you never saw before - in surround sound, complete with robots, really wild sound effects and drinks with extremely silly names. Each event will be recorded and available to download afterwards, becoming a genuine audio experience the audience can enjoy over and over again."
