Classic Arts News Orlando Philharmonic Balances Budget for 11th Straight Year The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra balanced its budget for the 11th consecutive year last season and reports a modest surplus, according to the Orlando Business Journal.
The orchestra's financial picture is thoroughly positive, executive director David Schillhammer told the Journal. The group's budget has doubled since 2000, but so has revenue from tickets and contributions, and its endowment has grown from $1.3 million in 2000 to $3.1 million in 2004. Ticket sales, he said, are up 50 percent from last year.

The orchestra has also received a $308,618 Dr. P. Phillips Foundation grant to upgrade its facility, and a $240,000 endowment match from the Florida Cultural Endowment.
