Directed by Frank Dunlop, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt's poignant one-woman play officially opened at the Old Globe's Cassius Carter Centre Stage Sept. 27. Performances began Sept. 22. The Oct. 23 and 24 performances of Pink Lady were canceled due to the recent California wildfires. Oscar and the Pink Lady, press notes state, "tells the story of a young hospital patient and his uplifting relationship with a kindly volunteer 'Pink Lady,' whose daily visits provide him with inspiration and hope." Angela Lansbury starred in a previous reading of the play.
The design team comprises Michael Vaughn Sims (scenic), Jane Greenwood (costume), Trevor Norton (lighting) and Lindsay Jones (sound).
Rosemary Harris' Broadway credits include A Delicate Balance, Waiting in the Wings, An Inspector Calls, Hay Fever, Pack of Lies, Heartbreak House, The Royal Family, A Streetcar Named Desire, Old Times and The Lion in the Winter (Tony Award). She was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in "Tom & Viv" and won the Emmy for her work in "Notorious Woman."
