The production, which marks Riva's return to the stage after more than ten years, will open in Paris in February 2014 at the Théâtre de l'Atelier prior to a run at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Set to play the Kennedy Center March 19-22, the production, which will be part of the World Stages festival, will be performed in French with English supertitles.

Riva will co-star with French actress Anne Consigny in Duras' play, which the Los Angeles Times describes as telling "the story of a young woman's search for the truth about her mother's death through a long conversation with an elderly woman, during which memory mingles with fiction." 

Riva's last stage appearance was in a 2001 production of Medea at the Festival d'Avignon. Her film credits include "Hiroshima Mon Amour," "Is There a Frenchman in the House?" and "Amour."

Savannah Bay marks a reunion for Riva and Duras: "Hiroshima Mon Amour" was written by Duras and earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Visit kennedy-center.org for more information.
