Part of the 37th season of the famed Lyrics & Lyricists series at the 92nd Street Y, the five shows at the East Side venue will be hosted by Tony Award-winning Fiddler on the Roof lyricist Sheldon Harnick. Artistic director Rob Fisher will be featured on piano.
Harnick was part of a similar concert last season at the 92nd Street Y. This year the lyricist, according to press notes, will "turn his attention to the lyrics that inspired him to be a songwriter. He reflects on such classics as 'A Fine Romance' by Dorothy Fields, 'Let's Do It' by Cole Porter, 'There's No Business Like Show Business' by Irving Berlin, 'When I'm Not Near the Girl I Love' by Yip Harburg and 'Baby It's Cold Outside' by Frank Loesser. But he also discusses fine examples of lyric writing in lesser-known songs by Alan Jay Lerner, George Forrest and Robert Wright, Hugh Martin and Meredith Willson."
