Ken Narasaki’s No-No Boy, which tells the story of incarcerated Japanese Americans during World War II, is set to return Off-Broadway this winter in a limited engagement from Pan Asian Repertory Theatre. The play will conclude its run on the eve of the annual Day of Remembrance, February 19, commemorating Japanese American internment.

“Even today, the term ['No-No Boy'] can spark bitter explosions amongst people who remain angry about the kinds of real life-or-death decisions they and their generation were forced to make,” comments Narasaki in a press statement.

No-No Boy is based on the novel by John Okada. The story follows Ichiro Yamada, who struggles to reconnect with the Seattle community after taking a bold stance on questions of allegiance.

Performances will begin February 7, 2018, at The Studio Theatre at Theatre Row with an official opening set for February 11. The run is scheduled through February 18.

Directed by Ron Nakahara, the cast of No-No Boy will feature Leanne Cabrera, Dinh James Doan, Chris Doi, David Huynh, Scott Kitajima, Karen Tsen Lee, Claro de los Reyes, Shigeko Sara Suga, Hansel Tan, and Tony Vo.

The production will feature sets by Sheryl Liu (Sayonara), costumes by Hyun Sook Kim (A Dream of Red Pavilions), lights by Leslie Smith (Acquittal), and sound by Ian Wehrle (Fishing For Wives). Elis C. Arroyo and Sabrina Morabito will serve as production stage managers.
