According to Variety, Panter's upcoming plans include a new production of Frank Loesser's The Most Happy Fella, which would be directed by The Drowsy Chaperone's Casey Nicholaw; a New York run of Simon Bent's Elling, which was seen in London but would be directed in Manhattan by Doubt's Doug Hughes; a transfer of the current London revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard, which features its cast doubling as musicians; and a New York run of the recent London production of Neil LaBute's Fat Pig. No timeline has been announced for any of these projects.
Panter, whose Ambassador Theatre Group owns 23 U.K. theatres, also hopes to find a Manhattan building that he could turn into a two-theatre complex. "One [theatre] would be big enough to make money, and the second would be big enough to make things work which deserve to work, and may have a future life," Panter told the industry paper.
