In honor of Black History Month and Women's History Month, the Towne Street Theatre is bringing back for the third time in three years its production of Sheri Bailey's Passing. The play, which won an NAACP nomination and two local theatre awards, reopens March 20 for a three-week run.

Directed by Nancy Cheryll Davis and Nancy Renee, Passing is set in Harlem in the Roaring Twenties and follows the fortunes of two women who are "pale" enough to pass as white. A study of passion and deceit, the drama looks into the hearts and minds of African-Americans in the period before the Depression.

Located in a 3rd floor loft in the fashion district in downtown L.A., the Towne Street Theatre is in its sixth year of existence. The company also holds classes in acting, playwriting, screenwriting, directing and classical theatre.
