Director Jason Reitman, who will direct the 7:30 PM reading on Dec. 15, created the series that offers live readings of favorite film scripts. Rudd will play Westley (originated by Cary Elwes), with Oswalt as Vizzini (created on screen by Wallace Shawn), Kaling as Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright on screen), Kroll as Count Rugen (Christopher Guest on screen), Kevin Pollak as Miracle Max (Billy Crystal on screen) and Bill Fagerbaake as Fezzik (Andre the Giant on screen).

Casting for the role of Inigo Montoya (originated by Mandy Patinkin) has not been announced.

Rob Reiner directed the film of "The Princess Bride," based on Goldman's 1973 novel of the same title. The film also featured Chris Sarandon, Peter Falk and Carol Kane.

"The Princess Bride" was at one point announced as a musical project for Goldman and Tony-winning Light in the Piazza composer-lyricist Adam Guettel. The project was later shelved.

Goldman's works also include "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "Masquerade," "The Stepford Wives," "All the President's Men," "The Marathon Man," "Chaplin" and the screenplay to Stephen King's "Misery." He also authored the iconic Broadway chronicle "The Season." Reitman's "Live Read" presentations have previously sold-out, but stand-by lines are instated.
