News Paul Slee is Ensemble Studio Theatre's New Executive Director Ensemble Studio Theatre announced June 20 the appointment of Paul A. Slee as executive director, effective immediately.

Slee previously served as executive director of New Dramatists, where he helped create grant, award and exchange programs for American playwrights, and as executive director of International Arts Relations (INTAR), the center for Hispanic American playwrights.

As development consultant he has worked with Monarch Theater, Ensemble Studio Theater, the National Alliance for Musical Theater, the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue (Geneva, Switzerland), and most recently with the Women's Project and Mirror Repertory Company.

He is an alumnus of McGill University and New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He serves on the advisory board of the Civilians, a New York-based theatre ensemble.

"After extensive meetings with Paul, I felt and the board agreed that he is the man for the job," stated William Carden, producing artistic director of EST. "He is an experienced administrator who believes passionately in the work we do. We will be looking to him to bring the management leadership and fiscal accountability we need to secure the future of EST and fulfill our unique mission in serving our membership and developing new work. We all feel very fortunate to have him onboard."

EST is the resident professional New York City troupe perhaps best known for its annual Marathon of new one-act plays — recognized as one of the nation's major showcases of the one-act form.
