The 70-year-old tenor had been on vacation in Barbados but returned to New York earlier this week to visit his doctor, his publicist told the AP.

Other concerts scheduled as part of Pavarotti's worldwide farewell tour are expected to go ahead as planned. Upcoming appearances include concerts in Zurich, Helsinki, and Oslo in April and in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Washington, D.C., in June.
