News PBS' "In the Life" Profiles Jerry Herman Oct. 25 The 15th season premiere of "In the Life," the gay and lesbian television newsmagazine, will feature a profile of Tony Award-winning composer Jerry Herman.

The hour-long program will debut in the metropolitan area on Oct. 25 at 10 PM ET on WNET/Thirteen; check local listings. Herman will discuss his acclaimed career, and special appearances will be made by Carol Channing and Angela Lansbury. Channing starred in Herman's Hello, Dolly!, and Lansbury was Herman's Mame. Hosted by Kate Clinton, the telecast will also include a profile of celebrity chef Anita Lo, an examination of Barbara Ricks' documentary "In Good Conscience" and a look back at the first few years of "In the Life."

One of the theatre's most celebrated composers, Jerry Herman has written the scores for such Broadway musicals as Milk and Honey; Hello, Dolly!; Mame; Dear World; Mack & Mabel; The Grand Tour and La Cage aux Folles. He also contributed songs to A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, and revues of his work include Jerry's Girls and An Evening with Jerry Herman. The songwriter won Tony Awards for his scores for Hello, Dolly! and La Cage aux Folles.
