News People Like Us — with Aida's Matt Bogart — Begins Performances Sept. 22 Matt Bogart, who's been seen on Broadway in Aida and The Civil War, co-stars with Pamela Bob in People Like Us, a new musical that begins performances Sept. 22 at the Barrow Group Theatre.

People Like Us features book and lyrics by Todd Almond and Gus Kaikkonen and music by Almond. Kaikkonen also directs the production, which runs through Oct. 2 and is part of the New York Music Theatre Festival.

People Like Us, according to production notes, concerns "Pam, who left Matt at the altar almost ten years ago [and] has since begun a successful career at NYU; Matt has become a famous television and movie star. After a chance meeting years later, can they compromise their professional aspirations for their heart's desire? In life, which element rules supreme: love or career? How can two people be together when they are a world apart?"

Matt Bogart was seen as Paul in the Kennedy Center mounting of Stephen Sondheim's Company, and his Broadway credits include Aida, The Civil War, Miss Saigon and Smokey Joe's Cafe. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music, Bogart has appeared in regional productions of Camelot, Carousel and Side Show, and his debut solo recording, "Simple Songs," is available on the Jay Records label. He was also part of the premiere cast of Frank Wildhorn's Camille Claudel at Goodspeed, and his recent theatrical credits include Himself and Nora (Old Globe), Phantom (Music Theatre of Wichita) and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Kennedy Theatre).

Pamela Bob has been seen in New York in Cam Jansen and The Gay Divorce. Her regional credits include Sisters of Swing; Annie Get Your Gun; Syncopation; Keep on the Sunny Side; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Picasso at the Lapin Agile; Babes in Arms; Swingin' On a Star; Suburbia; and Gypsy.

People Like Us will be presented Sept. 22 at 8 PM, Sept. 24 at 4:30 PM, Sept. 29 at 8 PM, Sept. 30 at 4:30 PM, Oct. 1 at 8 PM and Oct. 2 at 1 PM. The Barrow Group Theatre is located in Manhattan at 312 West 36th Street. Visit www.nymf.org for more information.
