Borle originated the role of Black Stache in the Off-Broadway premiere of Peter and the Starcatcher, a wildly imaginative precursor to the tale of Peter Pan, which played a critically-acclaimed, extended run at the New York Theatre Workshop last season.

He repeated his work in the Broadway transfer, which was also greeted by critical raves when it opened April 15 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Borle received the 2012 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play for Starcatcher.

The Tony winner also plays composer Tom Levitt in the NBC musical series "Smash," which will begin filming its second season this summer. The new episodes will air on NBC in its mid-season winter slot.

Borle will be replaced in Starcatcher by Matthew Saldivar, who is currently appearing in the Broadway revival of A Streetcar Named Desire. Saldivar's will begin performances July 2.

Saldivar joins a cast that also features Tony nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger (Merrily We Roll Along, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Les Miserables, Bachelorette), Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal, Rent), Teddy Bergman (Seven Minutes in Heaven), Arnie Burton (The 39 Steps), Matt D'Amico (Fizz), Kevin Del Aguila (Jacques Brel...), Carson Elrod (Reckless), Greg Hildreth (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), David Rossmer (Don't Quit Your Night Job), Betsy Hogg (Fiddler on the Roof), Orville Mendoza (Pacific Overtures), Jason Ralph (All's Well That Ends Well) and John Sanders (Mamma Mia!). Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers and Tony winner Roger Rees (The Addams Family, Nicholas Nickleby) co-direct the music-filled production that features songs by Wayne Barker.

Steven Hoggett (American Idiot, Black Watch, Once) created the movement for the production, which has set design by Tony Award winner Donyale Werle, costume design by Tony Award winner Paloma Young, lighting design by Tony Award winner Jeff Croiter, sound design by Tony Award winner Darron L West and musical direction by Marco Paguia.
