Playwright Peter Mercurio's new play, Hatch, will have a free public reading 6:30 PM Jan. 28, 1999 at the Elaine Kaufman Cultural Center in Manhattan. Playwrights Gallery presents the reading of the drama, about a family's secrets involving birth, death, love and desire -- and the aftermath of the revelations.

Mercurio's Anchors, Talk Shows, Love and Poetry Without Motion was produced off-off Broadway in 1993. Andrew Reaches The Other Side is currently being developed with Rattlestick Productions for a workshop production later this year.

The reading is on the second floor of the Kaufman Center, 129 W. 67th St. Reservations are not necessary. For information, call (212) 595-4597.
