Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters has replaced Kristin Chenoweth for the upcoming Pittsburgh Symphony Gala Concert, which will be held at the Heinz Hall. Chenoweth, who was last on Broadway in the revival of The Apple Tree, was forced to withdraw from the concert due to recent injuries.

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra spokesperson Jim Barthen told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "Kristin Chenoweth unfortunately had to cancel her appearance with the PSO due to injuries resulting from a fall on a stairwell over the weekend. She is recovering at home in Los Angeles." E! Online reports that Chenoweth fractured a few ribs during her fall, but she has been able to return to the set of her new ABC TV series, "Pushing Daisies."

The upcoming concert, which kicks off the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's 2007-2008 season, will also feature tenor Dmitri Pittas and conductors Sir Andrew Davis and Marvin Hamlisch.

Bernadette Peters was last on Broadway in the acclaimed revival of Gypsy, for which she received a 2003 Tony Award nomination for her performance as Rose in the Sam Mendes-directed production. She won her two Tonys for her performances in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Song & Dance and Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun, and she has also starred on Broadway in Mack & Mabel, On the Town, Sunday in the Park with George, The Goodbye Girl and the original production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods. Peters' newest live recording, "Sondheim, Etc., Etc.—Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall (The Rest of It)," is available on the Angel Records label. Masterworks Broadway has also released a "Legends of Broadway" CD celebrating her theatrical career. Peters' screen credits are numerous.

Kristin Chenoweth, who received a Tony nomination for her work as Glinda in Stephen Schwartz's Wicked, has been seen on the New York stage in The Fantasticks, Scapin, Steel Pier, A New Brain, Epic Proportions, Strike Up the Band, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, The Apple Tree, Stairway to Paradise and Candide. The actress won her Tony Award for her performance as Sally Brown in the Broadway bow of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Chenoweth recently released her second solo recording, "As I Am" (Sony Classical), and her screen credits include "Kristin," "The West Wing," "The Music Man," "The Pink Panther," "Stranger Than Fiction," "Deck the Halls" and "Running with Scissors."
