News Phantom of the Opera Anniversary Screenings Score at U.K. Box Office The special 25th anniversary staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall, broadcast live in a host of theatres across the globe Oct. 2, brought in £550,955 at the U.K. box office, according to the UK Film Council.

According to the Really Useful Company, the screenings "reached Number 1 at the UK box office on Sunday 2 October and Number 3 overall for the weekend. This marks the biggest daily result and biggest lifetime result of any alternative content cinema release ever in the UK."

The sold-out Oct. 1-2 London performances of Phantom, which transformed London's Royal Albert Hall to conjure Maria Björnson's original stage designs, featured direction by Laurence Connor and choreography and musical staging by Gillian Lynne. The event celebrated the 25th anniversary of the musical's London premiere and featured a cast and orchestra of over 200 individuals and special guests.

The special presentation of Phantom will also be released Nov. 14 on DVD, Blu-ray, CD and digital download. It will be released in Australia and New Zealand Dec. 8. A four-CD and DVD Collectors' box set is also planned.

Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess, who originated the roles of Phantom and Christine in Lloyd Webber's Phantom sequel Love Never Dies in London in 2010, starred. Karimloo is a veteran of the London Phantom, while Boggess opened the 2006 Las Vegas production.

The cast also featured Barry James as Monsieur Firman, Gareth Snook as Monsieur André, Liz Robertson as Madame Giry and Wynne Evans as Piangi. Cameron Mackintosh produced the special three-concert event.
