News "Phantom of the Opera" Screening and Mini-Concert Will Be Presented at United Palace of Cultural Arts The United Palace of Cultural Arts (UPCA) will present the third annual Monster Movie and Mash-Up Nov. 1 at 4 PM featuring a screening of the 1925 silent movie classic "The Phantom of the Opera" with a live organist.

The 1925 film stars Lon Chaney, Mary Philbin, Norman Kerry, Snitz Edwards and Cesare Gravina. It was directed by Rupert Julian.

The event will begin with a costume parade across UPCA's stage. Anyone wearing a costume is welcome to participate. New York Post chief film critic Lou Lumenick will introduce the film.

The musical soundtrack to the film will be performed by Ben Model, who regularly accompanies silent films at MoMA, The Silent Clowns Film Series and the Library of Congress.

After the film current cast members of the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, including Laird Mackintosh, Rachel Zatcoff and Kyle Barisich, will perform a mini-concert and participate in a question-and-answer session that is scheduled to be led by New York Post columnist Michael Riedel.
