Ron Bohmer will pick up the mask from Craig Schulman who has recently left one of the national tours of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. Bohmer begins haunting the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, DC the week of Sept. 15. An understudy performs in the meantime.
Bohmer comes to the tour from the North American tour of Sunset Boulevard, where he starred as Joe Gillis. He made his Broadway debut as Fyedka in the 1990 revival of Fiddler on the Roof. He has since performed on Broadway as Enjolras in Les Miserables and starred as Alex in the original Canadian and U.S. national productions of Aspects of Love.
His Off-Broadway credits include On the Twentieth Century and Forbidden Broadway. Bohmer created the title role in the world premiere musical Aladdin at the Jerash Theatre Festival in Jordan. His television appearances include roles in "As the World Turns" and "Ryan's Hope" as well as the syndicated film The Last Prom. As a singer and songwriter he can be heard on his new solo CD, Ron Bohmer -- Everyman, released by Bluxo records. He can also be heard in the title role of Histoire de Soldate (A Soldier's Tale,) for Chessky Records.
Sandra Joseph continues as Christine Daae with Lawrence Anderson as Raoul. Phantom plays in Washington through Oct. 4. It opens in Los Angeles at the Pantages Theatre Oct.11 and runs through Jan. 4.
