News Phantom's Vroman to Head Cast of Simply Sondheim — A 75th Birthday Salute Simply Sondheim — A 75th Birthday Salute will be presented at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco's Kanbar Hall on Dec. 5 to benefit Theatre Bay Area’s Mary Mason Memorial Lemonade Fund.

The 7:30 PM concert will feature the talents of Lisa Vroman, Judy Butterfield, James Brewer, Amy Dondy, Kelly Ground, Hannah Rose Kornfeld, Stephanie Rhoads, Steve Rhyne, Shay Oglesby-Smith, Kim Larsen and Tom Orr. Sondheim parodists Peter L. Stein and Lauren Mayer will also be part of the evening, which is being directed by Tom Segal with musical direction by David Dobrusky. The one-night-only event will include classic Sondheim tunes as well as a few unknown or unpublished trunk songs provided by Sondheim himself. Butterfield will perform "I'm in Love with a Boy," which the composer penned when he was 16.

Lisa Vroman played Christine in both the Broadway and San Francisco productions of The Phantom of the Opera. She starred as Johanna in the Emmy-winning "Sweeney Todd in Concert" and was recently seen in the San Francisco Symphony's presentations of Off Thee I Sing and Let 'Em Eat Cake.
