"As far as [combining] board, musicians, and governance—that's all up for discussion," Pops executive director Steven P. Haines told the paper.
The Philly Pops was founded in 1981, and is led by pianist Peter Nero. It shares some musicians with the Philadelphia Orchestra, according to the Inquirer.
The Philadelphia Orchestra has also discussed a merger with the Kimmel Center, the headquarters of both ensembles. But those talks are currently on hold, the paper says.
