The Big Bang is being produced by Howard Perloff of Mynnelou Productions, Inc., in association with Act II Playhouse (in Ambler, PA) and Kimmel Center Presents. Opening is set for Feb. 16.

"The Big Bang left audiences clamoring for more," said Perloff. "We're eager to bring it from the suburbs to Center City so thousands of theatre lovers can enjoy it in the Kimmel's new studio theatre."

Composed by Jed Feuer (Off-Broadway's Eating Raoul) with book and lyrics by Boyd Graham (Eating Raoul), The Big Bang was first presented in 1997 at the PSI Theater at the Durham Arts Council with Feuer and Graham playing the roles.

As the world keeps changing, the writers graciously allow creative teams of resident productions of the show to add topical non-musical material as they see fit.

The Act II production features Ben Dibble as Jed and Tony Braithwaite as Boyd with direction by Richard M. Parison Jr. (known for his work at Walnut Street Theatre and elsewhere). "The show tells the story of two creators trying to line up producers for the most expensive Broadway musical ever written—a $83 million spectacle that depicts the entire history of the world – from the formation of the planets to the building of the pyramids, to present day," according to production notes.

Performances play 8 PM Wednesday-Saturday with matinees 2 PM Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $39 and are available at the Kimmel Center box office at (215) 893-1999 or online at www.ticketphiladelphia.org.
