News Philly's Theatre Alliance Gets New Director in Salvante Margie Salvante has been named executive director of The Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, the group that promotes awareness of the theatre community in Philly.

Salvante has worked as a theatre artist and administrator in New York City for the past 20 years. From 1996 until the present, she served as the director of education for Roundabout Theatre Company, where she transformed the department from a simple discount ticket program into a $1.4 million theatre-in-education initiative annually employing over 40 teaching professionals and serving over 5,000 students in 60 schools.

While at Roundabout, Salvante served on advisory committees with the New York State Council on the Arts, League of Resident Theatres and Producers, Department of Cultural Affairs, and Theatre Communications Group.

She conducted seminars for NYU, Columbia Teachers College, Brooklyn College, ART/NY and the New York City Arts-in-Education Roundtable for which she was a founding member.

"The theatre community here is rich with talent and contributes greatly to the vibrancy of the region," she said. "I am looking forward to advancing the work of the Theatre Alliance as a chief advocate and support for Philadelphia's theatre artists."

"Margie impressed the board with her clear love and passion for theatre, her dynamic personality and her strong leadership skills," said Becky Sassi, Theatre Alliance Board Member and director of institutional advancement at Walnut Street Theatre. "I am confident that she will quickly establish herself as the collective leader of and voice for the Greater Philadelphia theatre community." The Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia "strengthens and leads the region's richly diverse theatre community, with more than 100 member organizations and over 300 individuals."
