News PHOTO CALL: A New "Girl" in Town; Meet the Latest Leading Lady of Broadway's Tony-Winning Once Actress Jessie Fisher, who has stood-by for the role of "Girl" in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Once, will assume the leading role in the musical June 17 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

Fisher succeeds U.K. actress Joanna Christie in the role. Christie began performances in the musical last summer and departed the production June 15.

Fisher, who is half of the folk duo Erik and Jessie, has worked with Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre Company and others.

She joins a cast that also features Paul Alexander Nolan as "Guy," Adam Wesley Brown, Laurel Griggs, David Patrick Kelly, Katrina Lenk, Brandon McGibbon, Anne L. Nathan, Madeleine Pace, Andy Taylor, Ryan Vona, Erikka Walsh, Paul Whitty and J. Michael Zygo.

Once is directed by John Tiffany (Black Watch), with movement by Steven Hoggett (Black Watch, American Idiot) and music supervision and orchestrations by Martin Lowe (Mamma Mia!). It won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. Once premiered on Broadway in March 2012 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

The production has set and costume design by Tony Award winner Bob Crowley (The Coast of Utopia, Mary Poppins). Lighting design is by Tony winner Natasha Katz (Aida, The Coast of Utopia), and sound design is by Clive Goodwin.
