Two-time Tony nominee David Pittu created and directed the evening of entertainment, which honored the legacy of the company and offered an "original tribute to the genre of musical adaptations." Entitled An Evening of Unexpected Musical Adaptations, performers and presenters included Raul Esparza (Speed-the-Plow, Company), Felicity Huffman ("Transamerica," "Desperate Housewives"), Atlantic co-founder William H. Macy (Speed-the-Plow), F. Murray Abraham (Offices, Mauritius, Angels in America), Jonathan Cake (The Philanthropist, "The Tudors") and Academy Award-winner Ethan Coen ("No Country for Old Men," "Fargo," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?").
The production will include Bernstein’s incidental music for Lillian Hellman’s adaptation of The Lark, and Menotti’s The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore.
Based on the novel and film by Frank Cottrell Boyce, the new musical will reunite Guettel with Tony-winning Light in the Piazza director Bartlett Sher.
