The Best Man's author Gore Vidal poses at his play's opening night party with Karenna Gore, daughter of 2000 presidential candidate Al Gore. Gore Vidal's The Best Man, a three-act drama set at a 1960 Presidential Convention in Philadelphia, began performances at the Virginia Theatre Sept. 5. The revival (the original Best Man premiered at the Morosco Theatre March 31, 1960) runs through Dec. 31. Ethan McSweeny directs stars Charles Durning, Spalding Gray, Chris Noth, Elizabeth Ashley, Christine Ebersole and Michael Learned.
