News PHOTO CALL: Broadway and Cabaret Stars Perform at Laurie Beechman Benefit April 5 April 5, the West Bank Cafe was home to a special benefit for the Laurie Beechman Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Pictured left to right are Karen Mason, Sam Harris, director Richard Jay-Alexander, Faith Prince and show producer Jim Wilhelm, who was also Beechman's agent. Beechman appeared on Broadway in the original Annie, in 1982's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and as Grizabella in Cats, and was a frequent singer in New York cabarets. She died of ovarian cancer in March 1998.
