Ryan Murphy ("Nip/Tuck") created the new series, which features stage stars Morrison (Hairspray, South Pacific) and Michele (Spring Awakening).
"Glee," according to Fox materials, "follows an optimistic teacher [Morrison] who – against all odds and a malicious cheerleading coach – attempts to save McKinley High's Glee Club from obscurity while helping a group of aspiring underdogs realize their true star potential." Michele lends her vocals to the hapless show choir.
Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays are also featured in the series along with Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Jenna Ushkowitz. Stage vets Kristin Chenoweth, Victor Garber, Debra Monk and Josh Groban will guest star.
The production will include Bernstein’s incidental music for Lillian Hellman’s adaptation of The Lark, and Menotti’s The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore.
