Representing the straight plays at the Manhattan Theatre Club's 2002 Spring Gala were The Crucible's Laura Linney and The Graduate's Alicia Silverstone. Linney was Oscar-nominated for "You Can Count on Me," while Silverstone is known for her film comedies such as "Clueless."

The 2002 MTC Spring Gala was held May 13 in the New York Hilton's Grand Ballroom. Performances included numbers from Urinetown, Into the Woods, The Producers and George C. Wolfe's Harlem Song, plus a special performance by Donna Murphy. Valerie Harper, Gary Beach and Roger Bart were the hosts.
