The 2011 Tony Awards were presented live from the Beacon Theatre June 12, 2011. Playbill.com was on site, and posted photos as the night progressed.
The Book of Mormon, the profane, comic, heartfelt musical about earnest religious missionaries, and War Horse, a puppet-driven tale of an English boy following his beloved horse into World War I, were named Best Musical and Best Play, respectively.
The Tony Awards, celebrating excellence in Broadway theatre in the 2011-12 season, will be broadcast in a live three-hour ceremony from the Beacon Theatre on the CBS television network June 10. Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris will again host.
Nathan Lane, Jennifer Hudson, Billy Eichner, and more will celebrate the animated film's 30th anniversary while also spotlighting its long-running stage musical adaptation.
