News PHOTO CALL: Rapp's The Metal Children, with Billy Crudup, Opens Off-Broadway Adam Rapp's latest work, The Metal Children starring Billy Crudup, opened Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre May 19.

The work is billed as a "timely drama about a New York writer and his explosive encounter with a small American town that he travels to in order to defend one of his young adult novels, which has been banned by the local school board. The controversy ignites heated emotions over religious beliefs and censorship."

The playwright directs a cast featuring Crudup (The Coast of Utopia), Guy Boyd (August: Osage County), David Greenspan (The Royal Family), Halley Wegryn Gross (Hurlyburly), Phoebe Strole (Spring Awakening), Betsy Aidem (A Lie of the Mind), Connor Barrett (Finer Noble Gases), Susan Blommaert (Grease) and Jessy Hodges ("Anyone but Me").
