News PHOTO CALL: Ruhl's Passion Play at Yale Rep Sara Ruhl's Passion Play — offering three unique views of a theatrical tradition — opens Sept. 25 at Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, CT, with Kathleen Chalfant starring as Queen Elizabeth I, Hitler and Ronald Reagan.

Mark Wing-Davey directs the epic work that also features Felix Solis, Susan Pourfar, Joaquín Torres, Keith Reddin, Dieterich Gray, Polly Noonan, Austin Durant, Laura Esposito, Brian Hastert, Slate Holmgren, Barret O'Brien, Luke Robertson, Thomas Jay Ryan and Nicole Wiesner. "Ruhl's Passion Play transports audiences first to 16th-century England, where the Protestant Queen Elizabeth threatens to shut down a small town's production; then to 20th century Germany, where Adolf Hitler seizes an opportunity to use the famous Oberammergau Passion Play to promote the Nazi agenda; and finally to Spearfish, South Dakota in 1984, as a local production becomes a campaign stop for a famous actor-turned-President running for re-election," according to Yale Rep.
