Feteing the night away at the Tony Awards ball at the Marriott Marquis were Rosemary Harris, who lost the Best Actress Tony Award to her daughter, The Real Thing's Jennifer Ehle, Eartha Kitt, a nominee for The Wild Party and Philip Seymour Hoffman, nominated for True West. The 2000 Tony Awards, awarded June 4, honored Copenhagen and Contact as the best of Broadway with Michael Blakemore taking home both director prizes (the first time in Tony history), Brian Stokes Mitchell and Heather Headley winning the top acting awards and Susan Stroman nabbing best choreography for Contact.
