The production replaces a radical Christopher Alden staging that drew protests from some audience members in 2000. The new staging, directed by Stefano Vizioli, was promoted by the company as "a traditional staging of this grand old favorite."
In addition to êlvarez as Rigoletto, êlvarez as the Duke of Mantua, and Kuznetsova as Gilda, the cast includes Beth Clayton as Maddalena, Andrea Silvestrelli as Sparafucile. and Quinn Kelsey as Monterone. Jes‹s L‹pez Cobos conducts.
Vizioli's team includes set designer Robert Innes Hopkins, costume designer Jane Greenwood, and lighting designer Christine Binder.
The staging returns tomorrow night and runs through February 17.
