Classic Arts News Photo Journal: Bryn Terfel in Welsh National Opera's Dutchman Welsh National Opera's new production of Wagner's Der fliegende H‹llander (The Flying Dutchman), with Bryn Terfel in the title role, opened on February 18.
The production, directed by David Pountney, runs through March 3 at the Cardiff Millennium Centre before traveling to London, Birmingham, Bristol, Milton Keynes, and Swansea (Robert Hayward replaces Terfel after the Birmingham performances).

The opening-night cast included Annalena Persson as Senta, Ian Storey as Erik, Gidon Saks as Daland, Peter Wedd as the Steersman, and Mary Lloyd-Davies as Mary. Carlo Rizzi conducted.

Robert Innes Hopkins designed the production; lighting is by Jurgen Hoffman. Jane and Louise Wilson contributed video art.
