Rashad, who earned a Tony for her performance as family matriarch Lena Younger in the 2004 Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun, has signed on to helm the Oct. 9-Nov. 3, 2012, production. Rashad also staged the 1950's Chicago-set drama for Los Angeles' Ebony Repertory Theatre last spring. Martin, the former artistic director of the Huntington Theatre Company, will stage Didion's stage memoir about family and loss, The Year of Magical Thinking, which will run June 12-30, 2012. Tony nominee Maureen Anderman (Richard III, Seascape, The Lady from Dubuque) will star.
As previously reported, Westport's 2012 season will begin with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods (May 1-19, 2012); followed by Moliere's Tartuffe (July 17-Aug. 4, 2012); and the new Chad Beguelin musical Harbour (Aug. 28-Sept. 15, 2012).
