News   Piaf's Elena Roger to Offer Concert at Prince of Wales Theatre
Elena Roger, currently appearing in the West End in the title role of Pam Gems' Piaf, will give a late-night solo concert in the Delfont Room of the Prince of Wales Theatre Jan. 31, 2009, starting at 11 PM London time.

Roger will sing songs from her new album, "Vientos del Sur," in a tango-inspired evening. Roger, who hails from Buenos Aires, first appeared on the London stage in 2006 when she played the role of Eva Peron in Michael Grandage's new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita at the Adelphi Theatre. The following year she took over as the Italian air hostess in Matthew Warchus' original West End production of Boeing-Boeing at the Comedy Theatre, before returning to London this year to play the title role in Piaf in Jamie Lloyd's new production of Pam Gems' 1978 play at the Donmar Warehouse, where it opened on Aug. 13 (following previews from Aug. 8) and ran to Sept. 20. The production subsequently transferred to the Vaudeville Theatre, reopening there on Oct. 21 (following previews from Oct. 16), where it is now running to Jan. 24, 2009.

In her native Buenos Aires, Roger's credits include the original productions of Nine, Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables and Saturday Night Fever. In 2003 she devised Mina, che cosa sei with director Valeria Ambrosio, based on the life of the Italian singer. That production won five awards including the ACE (Critics' Award) for Best Actress for Roger.
