"The play Harvey has been scheduled for a commercial production on Broadway next fall," says Stephen Hamilton, co-founder and executive director, "So the rights to produce it at Bay Street fell through. We believe Pippin will be a treat for all who come to see it. In fact, we are already extending the run for an additional week."

Jack Hofsiss will direct the musical, which will conclude the season. No casting has been decided.

In other news, Matt McGrath has been added to the cast of Simon Gray's Japes, the season opener. He replaces Jason Butler Harner, who recently took a role in Jon Robin Baitz's The Paris Letter at the Roundabout. Sam Robards, Tony Award-nominated for his performance in Arthur Miller's The Man Who Had All the Luck in 2002, will also star in Japes.

The play runs May 24-June 4. At one point, there was talk that Japes would reach Broadway. Running for two and a half months in the London's Theatre Royal, Haymarket, in 2001, Japes was originally directed by Peter Hall, and starred Jasper Britton and Toby Stephens.

Japes is described as "an unflinching, often funny look at two brothers who share the house in which they were born—and the woman they both love."  The Bay Street season also includes a revival of No Time For Comedy, S.N. Behrman's drawing room comic drama about the need for laughter during dire times, directed by Daniel Gerroll (June 14-July 3); and Sleuth, the popular, two-hander thriller about the sexual rivalry and gamesmanship between two men by Anthony Shaffer (July 12-July 31).
