Ferris, who danced professionally with Empire State Ballet Theater and is currently executive director of Las Vegas's Nevada Ballet Theatre, will take up the post at the beginning of February.

His duties will include overseeing the budget, fundraising, and company growth. In addition, Ferris told the Post-Gazette, he hopes to send PBT on tour to Johnstown, Erie, Buffalo, and Rochester.

The company is also trying to eliminate a $1 million debt.
