Forbes has resigned from her job as executive director of the Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society, where she has been for six years.

She is credited with creating additional programming for the society, such as composer residencies and concerts featuring music beyond the standard chamber repertoire. Under her direction, the society's attendance rose from an average of 600 people per concert to 1,000.

Edward Kocher, president of the chamber-music society's board, said, "Natalie is an exceptional arts administrator and advocate for. . . chamber music. She has been a whirlwind of energy and exceptional vision and has wonderful ears for artistic quality."

A national search will be conducted for her replacement.

In New Haven, Forbes replaces Michael MacLeod, who left the orchestra in June to become executive director of Glimmerglass Opera.
