Playbill Vault offers an interactive treasure trove for theatre fans, students, aficionados and historians alike. To build the Playbill Vault, more than a dozen Playbill staff members spent nearly 18 months scanning, cataloging and tagging thousands of programs from Playbill's archives in Queens and Manhattan, as well as synching up tens of thousands of news stories, photos and videos from Playbill.com's 17 years of theatre coverage online.

Upon the Dec. 1 launch of its beta version, the Playbill Vault includes information on over 10,000 shows and 120,000 actors, creative teams and crew members who have worked or are currently working on Broadway, with content being added on a daily basis.

The Playbill Vault also includes a myriad of multimedia components:
• The world’s largest catalog of virtual and interactive Playbills (view all the cover artwork and read opening-night credits for shows new and old)
• Up-to-date Broadway cast information
• Cast histories of long-running shows (principal replacements, understudies, swings, etc.)
• Actor headshots from past and current Playbills
• Headshots of members of the creative teams (including directors, choreographers, producers, songwriters and playwrights)
• Production photos and videos
• The latest Playbill.com news and features related to each production and person
• A working history of each Broadway theatre courtesy of Playbill’s beloved "At This Theatre" column and subsequent book
• Photos of Broadway marquees
• Information on winners and nominees of the Tony Awards, Drama Desk Awards, Drama League Awards, New York Drama Critics’ Circle Awards, Outer Critics Circle Awards, Pulitzer Prizes and Theatre World Awards
• All productions searchable by title, person, theatre or by season (starting with the 1930-1931 season)
• Comparative analysis and charts of Broadway grosses by season and show

While in beta form, the Playbill Vault will continue to build its database, continuously checking for accuracy while adding hundreds of new Playbills every week. In the coming months, the Playbill Vault will expand to include Off-Broadway content, earlier Broadway history (from the early 1900s on), Broadway grosses starting from 1986, and an expanded “At This Theatre” section.
