Peter Gallagher

Full given name: Peter Killian Gallagher
Hometown: Armonk, NY
Zodiac sign: Leo
Audition song/monologue: First Broadway audition for Vinnie Liff I sang "Put Your Head On My Shoulder." The mention of the word "audition" still makes my heart break and my stomach turn.
Special skills: Annoying whistles and sounds that have no place anywhere.
First Broadway show ever saw: Hello, Dolly! with Pearl Bailey
Current show you have been recommending to friends: Passing Strange
Favorite show tune: "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered"
MAC or PC? MAC. Forever!
Most played song on your iPod: "Love and Happiness" Al Green
Last book you read: "Watchman, What of the Night?" by Jed Harris
Must-see TV show: Keith Olbermann MSNBC
Last good movie you saw: "Michael Clayton"
Favorite board game: I played "Risk" as a kid. As an adult, I'm hopeless at games.
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Dean Martin. It would be miraculous.
Pop culture guilty pleasure: For me, pop culture seems to be all guilt, no pleasure, all pop no culture at the moment. Although "America's Funniest Videos" and "American Idol" are still favorite family viewing.
First stage kiss: Grease — Danny and Sandy's kiss at the drive-in. I think we kissed… Danny certainly wanted to – that I remember.
Favorite pre-show meal: Chicken noodle soup and two pieces of buttered rye bread from Café Edison. The greatest coffee shop in the world.
How you got your Equity card: Open call for the revival of Hair. I was number 2000-something in a blocks-long line of hopefuls, and this process repeated itself for weeks as the line grew shorter. I ended up in Grease after a similar open call for that show.
Worst flubbed line/onstage mishap: I remember going up completely on "I'll Know" in Guys and Dolls and singing various versions of the word "love" and other even more unfortunate improvised lyrics as my costar Josie de Guzman looked on in horror. In fact, I remember a similar look of horror on Glenn Close's face during a scene we had in The Real Thing as I attempted to improvise verse from a Restoration Comedy – I inadvertently captured the comedy but failed miserably at the restoration. In A Doll's Life the set of my humble musician's studio never showed up one performance, and I made a joke about the rent being late and it was the only laugh I got for the entire run.
Worst costume ever: I remember a pair of grey leather breeches/chaps for Pride and Prejudice that I was very fond of. Apparently I was alone in my affection for them.
Cats or dogs? Dogs. I'm very allergic to cats, and they never fail to find that amusing.
Who would play you in the movie? Eugene Levy
Worst job you ever had: Computer Operations (midnight to 8 AM) at Ciba-Geigy in Ardsley. Well, it tied with painting houses — I hated the prep work. The painting was no joy either.
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: "The OC" was great fun, especially the first season.
